I have been noticing a lot of VTubers upgrading their models with super detailed facial tracking—like subtle eyebrow movements, blinking patterns, even micro-expressions.
Do you think having a wide range of emotions actually helps build a better connection with viewers? Or is it more about voice/personality than the visuals?
Would love to hear what you all prioritize in your models—expression, design, or something else entirely?

@Harry Facial expressions totally matter. A well-timed smirk or wide-eyed panic moment can carry a stream. Voice and personality are key, but those little visual cues make reactions hit way harder. It’s like seasoning on content, not required, but it makes everything better.

@Harry Great question, I think detailed facial tracking definitely adds to the immersion, small expressions can make a model feel so much more alive. But at the end of the day, voice and personality still carry the most weight when it comes to viewer connection.

For me, I prioritize personality and design first, then add more expressions as I go. The tech helps, but it’s the vibe that really sticks with people!

Curious to hear what others think too.

Expressions definitely help, especially with subtle stuff like eye squints or smirks - it makes reactions feel real. But honestly? Personality and voice are still 80% of the connection.

@Harry I think expressive tracking definitely helps viewers feel more connected. It adds life to the model. But at the end of the day, voice and personality matter more. I would say expression enhances the vibe, but it is the person behind the model that really makes people stay.

@Harry Totally agree,I think expressions do help a lot with connection - it makes the reactions feel more real. But voice and personality still matter the most for me. A mix of both is ideal.

@Harry Expression adds a lot, but voice and personality still carry the most weight. A good balance of all three really brings the model to life.

@PixelRonin Absolutely. Expressions add flair, but voice and vibe are what truly hook me. Best when it all clicks together.
